Decorative Metallic Epoxy

Decorative metallic, 3D and pearlescent epoxy and micro-cement floors for Accra homes, showrooms and retail flagships — seamless, high-depth finishes installed over a moisture-tested, ICRI-CSP-prepared slab so the floor that wows on day one still holds in Ghana's humidity. Epoxy Flooring Ghana, since 1981.

Decorative metallic epoxy is a high-pigment, self-levelling resin system in which ultra-fine metallic and pearlescent particles migrate as the material cures, forming a seamless, three-dimensional floor — liquid-metal rivers, oceanic swirls and luminous depth that no two installations repeat. In Ghana’s humidity its longevity is decided beneath the resin, by slab moisture testing and substrate preparation. Epoxy Flooring Ghana has installed decorative and 3D epoxy across Accra since 1981.

Why Decorative Epoxy Floors Fail in Ghana — and How We Prevent It

The pigment is the part everyone sees; the slab beneath it is the part that decides whether the floor survives. In Ghana’s persistent 81–83% relative humidity, moisture vapour rising through an untested concrete slab builds osmotic and hydrostatic pressure under the resin and lifts it — blistering and delamination that ruin a showpiece floor within months. A metallic floor is no more immune to this than a warehouse floor; the only difference is that the failure is far more visible.

We treat moisture as the primary engineering control on every decorative job. Before a gram of pigment is mixed we test in-situ relative humidity to ASTM F2170 and moisture-vapour emission to ASTM F1869, and prime to the reading. That discipline — not the richness of the pigment — is what makes a decorative floor last in this climate.

Decorative Systems We Install in Accra & Kumasi

Metallic Epoxy

The signature liquid-metal finish — pigment worked within its open time to create directional rivers and depth, sealed under a UV-stable clear coat. The first choice for corporate showrooms, automotive flagships and statement residential interiors.

3D & Pearlescent Epoxy

Multi-layer builds where a printed or hand-worked image and pearlescent pigment create genuine visual depth — feature floors for retail, hospitality lobbies and bespoke residences across Accra metro and Spintex.

Micro-Cement (Béton Ciré)

A thin, trowel-applied cementitious finish for walls and floors where a contemporary matte, stone-like surface is wanted over existing substrates — popular in premium residential refurbishments where build height is constrained.

Decorative Flake & Quartz

Broadcast vinyl-flake or coloured-quartz systems sealed with a UV-stable topcoat — a hard-wearing, slip-rated decorative finish for showroom circulation, garages and commercial interiors.

Standards That Govern a Decorative Floor

StandardWhat it governsWhy it matters to a decorative floor
ASTM F2170In-situ relative humidity (probes at 40% slab depth)The dominant pre-install moisture test; decides primer and whether the floor will lift
ASTM F1869Calcium-chloride moisture-vapour emission rateSurface vapour load; flags slabs needing a vapour-suppression primer
ICRI CSPConcrete surface profile after preparationThe mechanical key the resin bonds to — concrete uses ICRI CSP, not the steel-only ISO 8501
ASTM D3359Adhesion (cross-cut / crosshatch tape)Confirms the metallic coat is bonded, not merely lying on the slab
ASTM D4060Taber abrasion of the clear topcoatThe wear resistance that keeps a showroom floor looking new under foot traffic
EN 16165 (Annex B)Ramp R9–R13 slip ratingSets the slip rating where a glossy decorative floor meets a wet or circulation zone

How We Install a Decorative Metallic Floor

  1. Slab moisture & substrate testing — ASTM F2170 in-situ RH + ASTM F1869 MVER before any colour is ordered.
  2. Surface preparation — diamond grinding to the specified ICRI CSP; cracks and voids routed and filled.
  3. Primer & metallic body coat — moisture-tolerant primer to the reading, then the pigmented coat worked for depth within its open time.
  4. UV-stable topcoat & handover — polyaspartic/polyurethane clear seal, adhesion (ASTM D3359) and gloss checked, signed QC record.

What Affects the Cost

Every quote follows a site survey and slab moisture test — no fixed rate is given before the slab is tested.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is 3D / metallic epoxy flooring? A high-pigment, self-levelling epoxy in which ultra-fine metallic and pearlescent particles move as the resin cures, creating three-dimensional depth — liquid-metal rivers, oceanic swirls and luminous cloud effects — sealed under a UV-stable clear topcoat. The result is a seamless, grout-free floor that doubles as a design statement for homes, showrooms and retail interiors.

Will a metallic epoxy floor last in Ghana’s humidity? It will if the slab is tested first. In Ghana’s 81–83% humidity, moisture vapour rising through an untested slab builds pressure under even the most beautiful floor and lifts it. We test in-situ RH (ASTM F2170) and vapour emission (ASTM F1869) and prime to the reading before any pigment is poured — which most failed decorative floors skipped.

Does decorative epoxy yellow in the sun? Bare epoxy can amber under UV, which is why every decorative system we install is sealed with a UV-stable polyaspartic or polyurethane topcoat. For atria, conservatories and sun-exposed showroom zones the UV-stable seal is non-negotiable — it holds the colour and gloss the design intended.

How much does a 3D / metallic epoxy floor cost? It is quoted on survey — cost varies with the design complexity, number of pigment layers, slab condition and any moisture remediation, area and access. We never give a fixed rate before testing the slab; request a site survey.
