How Much Does Epoxy Flooring Cost in Ghana?

The Question Everyone Asks First

“How much does epoxy flooring cost in Ghana?” is the first question almost every client asks, and it deserves a straight answer. The straight answer is that a credible price only exists after a site survey and a slab moisture test. That is not evasion — it is the difference between a number you can build on and a number that turns into variation orders later. Below is what actually drives the figure, so you can plan with realistic, indicative expectations and read any quote you receive.

What You Are Actually Paying For

An epoxy floor price is the sum of a few real things, not a single rate:

The system

A thin sealed coating, a self-levelling build, a broadcast/quartz body and a trowel-applied mortar are different floors with different material and labour. The system is set by what the floor carries — a forklift floor and a showroom floor are priced worlds apart, correctly.

The slab beneath it

This is the variable most quotes quietly skip. In Ghana’s 81–83% humidity, trapped slab moisture is the number-one cause of epoxy failure. If the slab fails its ASTM F2170 in-situ relative-humidity reading or its ASTM F1869 moisture-vapour test, a vapour-suppression primer or remediation layer is real cost — revealed by a survey, hidden by a blind quote.

The preparation

Diamond grinding or shot-blasting to the specified ICRI CSP profile costs more on a contaminated or painted slab than a clean one. It is not optional; it is what the resin bonds to.

The performance and the access

A slip rating (EN 16165), chemical resistance, an ESD or hygienic spec, tight access, small rooms and a live facility all move the number.

Indicative, Not Fixed

We give clients an indicative range to plan around, because that is useful. What we will not do is hand over a fixed per-square-metre rate before testing the slab — because the slab is the largest unknown, and pretending otherwise is how floors fail and budgets blow. A larger area generally lowers the rate; difficult access and remediation raise it.

How to Read a Quote

The cheaper-looking quote is often the one that left out moisture testing, ICRI-CSP preparation or remediation — costs that reappear as variations or as a failed floor within a season. Compare what is specified, not just the bottom line. An engineered quote names the system, states the surface profile, and prices remediation honestly after testing.

Where to Spend First

If the budget is tight, the line item to protect is moisture testing and substrate preparation — it is what makes an industrial epoxy floor coating last 10–15+ years. If the slab needs help, fund concrete repair and substrate prep before any decorative ambition.

The Honest Bottom Line

The cost is on survey. That is not a way to avoid the question — it is the only way to answer it correctly, because the slab decides the floor.
